The School Board Budget Consultation process is drawing to a close.Secretary Treasurer Linda Brown explained to the committee of the Whole meeting at the School Board offices, that next week is the time to send amendments of theproposed budget to the Ministry.Trustee Barry Pankhurst said that this is before the consultation with the public regarding the school calendar and the five day week is to take place.Mrs Brown replied that the budget must be submitted first, and if the calendar must be changed, we have to figure out where we going to find [the money to implement] it.Superintendent Rob Greenwood said that Budget consultation doesn have to go out to the public.On February 27, there will be a Special Meeting of the Board, anyone can attend. Last year Budget Consultation was done with a of 36 this included 2 parents from each community at first, and then teachers sought representation; also special interest groups including School Band and French Immersion, as well as District Staff joined.On March 5 the Multi Year Plan will be presented to the Ministry.Mr Pankhurst asked if the budget will be done first, then the Calendar issue dealt with.Mrs Brown said don know if the coming year will be a 4 day or a 5 day school week. But if we go back to a 5 day week, we have to know what we can cut.
