One AT ridge runner recently informed me that one bear in NY has a habit of snatching packs because of its association with food being in it. USFS have noted that bears like to go straight to the campfire pit and rummage for food that hasn't burned down, from people disposing food waste into the firepit. I use a silnylon dry bag, 225 paracord, and the PCT hang method.

Yes, you better off wearing business casual from the start (nothing too fancy, but button up shirt, khakis for guys and dresses/skirts below the knees or pants for girls).
