I think it's partially the wording. Biscuits and gravy are both things Brits eat (separately) but they are VERY different from the southern biscuits and gravy being discussed here. Biscuit means cookie and gravy is more like traditional gravy (thinner, soupier). Up close, its problems are pretty obvious.
