1) they are insanely heavy and bulky. This is for two reasons mainly, a) you are carrying all the water weight and the entrees tend to be a bit soupy and goopy, so even more water weight then a lot of other foots. B) is closely related to the second big problem:.

water proof backpack Look for a thicker one with more structure. This helps with shape. I definitely found one that was not bad, all things considered. If it a field day then I get my backpacking gear together, submit a trip itinerary to dispatch and hop in the government rig to head to the trailhead.
